Never noticed to be an issue.

Re: Samyung 7.5 lens (Moved from The Lounge)

I do similar but use a wide elastic band around both the focus and aperture rings to make sure my fumbling does not move them - especially but not only in the dark.

Re: Samyung 7.5 lens (Moved from The Lounge)

Thanks Stephen & Dave, I will try both when it arrives. I do actually have the 9-18 which is a grand lens but I once went on an Olympus based course at Keswick in the Lake District-They had any lens you wanted to try, but the 7-14 was a little bit overwhelming with that huge curved front element. Most of chickened out with that one.

I agree f4 with the focus around the same will focus almost everything from a couple of inches to infinity. Just be careful where you place your hand in the lens & keep your feet in, unless of course you want then in the image.

Re: Samyung 7.5 lens (Moved from The Lounge)

You can also get some interesting effects when you shut down the aperture (@f22):

And as mentioned, stick it on infinity and you get an excellent focus right down to some inches (@f10):

No defishing. If you get the lens level to horizontal on both axis I find the rest looks after itself. (Samyang 7.5mm + EM-1)

Re: Samyung 7.5 lens (Moved from The Lounge)

Interesting, even at f/3.5, my DoF calculator says that this lens, on a 4/3 sensor camera, has a hyperfocal distance of about 1m. At f/10, this becomes 43cm and 20cm at f/22.

Re: Samyung 7.5 lens (Moved from The Lounge)

Well, I am still awaiting delivery-something has gone wrong with the delivery service I would try 5.6 for most shots. It seems to do well with the other lenses.

Re: Samyung 7.5 lens (Moved from The Lounge)

It's a great lens - sharp, nice build, fantastic FOV, fun to use, not too expensive. This is my favourite shot with it to date:

If/when it turns up, I'd be interested to know if it has the 1m and 3ft indicators on the distance scale, I've been trying to find one that has.
linus1884 posted some comparison images in another thread (which I can't include in the quote because my post count is too low ):

No, mine hadn't got the extra marking, but it has now courtesy of a thin blob of Tippex!
