Good Morning Vietnam!

Well, as both Tina and I have our passports sorted it was time to go see our travel agent to schedule our flights and build an itinerary.
We had initially planned on visiting Ireland but because being over 75yrs of age, car rentals would not accept me as a driver.
Irish weather is mostly cold, wet, grey and miserable in October and accommodations outrageously expensive.
So change of plan and ... Good Morning Vietnam! ... we'll hire chauffeur driven Vespas or a rickshaw.

Have a good trip. Enjoy.
When I was in Nam in the mid sixties it was cold, wet and miserable.

Wendy Wu Tours?

That sounds like a trip to do without your daughter!

Have a great time.

It may be so down south in Ho Chi Min City, I guess there are no guarantees, the weather will be what it will be and we'll make the best of it.

Wendy Wu sounds like a cook show chef but whoever she is has nothing to do with our independent travel itinerary, now under construction by our agent. Thanks John and Nigel.

Re: Good Morning Vietnam!

Andrew, you should make Vietnam your next destination, your camera skills far surpass mine

I don't know the author of this, no exif copyright info, borrowing to show how environmentally friendly it is

Just magine the frustration of the car driver ...

Re: Good Morning Vietnam!

Keith, Henry, and all - rest assured we will return with loads of pictures to share, probably not enough to rival the Cuban chronicler but hopefully enough to entertain you for a week or two!

Re: Good Morning Vietnam!

John, Alf,... 'catch up here', yeah, aspirational!
I'm told that Viet' can get wet, and one never knows when or for Halong it will rain ... which can be very Hanoi-ing.
Of course it will be stinkin' hot and we'll both get a nice Lon Tan ... but I guess you already Nui Dat

Re: Good Morning Vietnam!

Sorry, no new pics today. Spent yesterday with travel agent booking our travel and researching accommodations and attractions. We've booked five nights at Hoi An Historic Hotel at around AUD100 per night twin share, cheap and luxurious, and provisionally, four nights at Hanoi's La Siesta Hotel. Most of our stay will be in North Vietnam exploring some of the world's most exotic attractions, and of course take an overnight cruise on the majestic beauty of Ha Long Bay, Woo Hoo! As it happens there's a full moon on 24th March so we will take advantage of that to do an overnight cruise. Like Martin Luther King, "I have a dream" of capturing those limestone karsts and isles silhouetted against the shimmer of moonlight on tranquil waters of that faraway bay ... (dream on Mark, it will be pissing with rain!)
