Holiday Snaps from Seil Island

We spent last week at Ellanabeich on Seil Island, Argyll & Bute - stunning scenery and weather kind.

1. View of Mull from Ellenabeich Harbour

2. Flooded slate quarry

3. The derelict pier - was used by steamers to load slate

4. Restored crane that until recently was on the pier and in danger of falling.

E-520 and 14-42 kit lens

Ah yes, we went over the Atlantic bridge and on to Easdale island a few years back. Great place :-)

Nice pictures, looks like you had good weather..

I like all the images. The starkness of the landscape has great impact. The last shot makes a good historical record of the past when the quarry was active.

I know the area well, and you've captured the essence of the place in good weather. Now, how about the howling gales and drifting rain??

Here's one of the Easdale flooded quarries: As you see, we were not blessed with nice weather :-)

and the wheelbarrow park on Easdale

What about that ferry crossing from Seil to Easdale though!! I had to lash myself to the tiller...

Re: Holiday Snaps from Seil Island

Nice series of shots David. I like the first one best, all you needed was a clearer day to avoid the haze, which are hard to come by up there at this time of year.
