My understanding is that recent opinion polls show no change in the overall position even though some individual voters may have changed sides.

Mark Twain anticipated the Brexit vote:

"It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.

This is the fundamental mechanism that is applied for all indoctrinated beliefs.

Unfortunately there are many people that will continue with their belief system, no matter what is presented to them as evidence to the contrary.

Whenever Jehova Witnesses turn up at my door I ask them a simple question:
Is there anything I can say that will change your beliefs?

Then there are those that are prepared to die for their beliefs...

Throughout all of the history of mankind there have been those that seek to control and influence others, by exploiting the power of belief and they often do very well from doing so...

USA and N Korea presumably.....that's what you get under a voting system, although I can't say the North Koreans were able to vote for their leader. I was thinking more along the lines of 'cherry picking' your populist leaders...

All sides seem to agree that the U.K. will be poorer, whatever the 'flavour' of final Brexit. The sad thing is that many Leave voters will already be struggling financially and Brexit will tip them over the edge. They will then find that sovereignty makes a very thin gruel indeed!

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

People have been struggling since 2008 and earlier, either in or out the poorer side of the nation will suffer come what may, if you speak to those outside the UK they have been suffering a long time under the EU so there will be no difference there. Having spent a bit of time in Greece and speaking to the locals they also would love to leave the EU, and the country is poorer now than ever, that's of course due to the rigged monetary deal done to get them into the Euro in the first place.
My biggest contention is that the EU had a gilt edged chance to make the UK stay in the EU, they knew that the UK was holding a referendum, it was always going to be a close call, so some alterations as to how they ran the EU on a number of issues would have meant we would have stayed....and the vast majority of the UK population were quite happy to be in the Union, but things had to change and they didn't...little wonder the vote went the way it did...and again I reiterate that it was not David Cameron that sanctioned the vote it was both the House of Commons and the House of Lords by a large majority, the business leaders are now worried that they will lose business and money...but again no one can foresee what will happen, and for those experts that predict this and that if they are so very clever why don't we let them run the country We can then all become millionaires Rodney.

And lastly what if we did stay...what sort of Union will be left for us to stay in. Those seeking a 'Peoples Vote' (aka 2nd Referendum) what would happen if we voted to leave again?? and furthermore the cost of the last vote was approx 145million, this would be more today and wouldn't that be better spent elsewhere?

Next time you're over in Greece, tell them to sell some of their Main Battle Tanks. The U.K., France and Germany have a total of 883. Greece has 1345!

My partner's sister lives in Athens and I say to my partner 'Where do they put then all? I expect your sister's got one parked in her drive!'. The thing is, Greece isn't even tank country - it's mountainous!
