Indeed I have. I'm not a great fan of the use of Bon Mots but that one seemed so appropriate, I couldn't resist the temptation to use it.

But for some balance the other way - from the same paper:

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

O'Toole's is an extreme view, a worst-case scenario certainly, but as he says "in an era when we hardly even notice that the president of the United States is on Twitter calling a porn star “Horseface”, and Jacob Rees-Mogg is a serious contender to be prime minister of the United Kingdom, the bounds of possibility are disturbingly wide..... It is improbable but no more so than many contemporary realities."

Whatever your views on Brexit I think there's little doubt that the situation is descending into chaos!

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

In an attempt to break out of my Brexit depression, I've been looking for glimmers of hope that it might be a good idea after all. I remain unconvinced that the looming economic chaos can be justified by any of these arguments, but I found these articles interesting nonetheless, especially the first:

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Three very interesting links of which the first and the second link raise points that ring true when talking to friends in different countries - France, Germany, Holland, Austria and Poland - within the EU.

As for the third link, I'm still trying to digest all after 'Compromise' and that it seems only to apply to one single party involved in the discussions?

One of their biggest gripes is that they have no say and that politicians don't listen to to their problems. Seems we here in the UK are not alone in that respect, however, we do have elected members of parliament even though they appear to also not listen. Perhaps we should all club together and book every last one them EU and UK, into Speksavers for special hearing tests.

As for the upside, it has been said that the best time to start up in business, is when the economy is at low ebb. If you can make it work in the bad times you can only rise when things pick up.

The difference between losers and winners is simple. Losers feel sorry for themslves and cry all the way home after a fall... winners get up and carry on.

With a positive attitude, maybe, just maybe, Brexit is our time to pick ourseves up, wipe away the tears... and carry on?

What more can you expect when they have swapped the location of the UK for Fantasy Island? Even our politicians have better things to do when attending in parliament... like playing Candy Crush.

I'm a pessimist (you'd guessed hadn't you!) which means I'm rarely disappointed, and occasionally pleasantly surprised .

The People's Vote March in London today has attracted big crowds but no doubt it will be ignored, just as the one against the Iraq war was .

Thanks for finding and sharing the links.
Just read the first one and I agree with every word he says.

That is the Number One issue that makes me a Brexiteer. I would be quite happy, as I have said on this thread a number of times, for the UK to join in a common market. But not one step further. The common market should also carry no entry charge or payment, simple compliance with agreed standards is all that is necessary, AND no restrictions on who else you do trade deals with. Perhaps a small nominal charge to fund a neutral independent arbitration entity.
If we could get back to that model I am sure a huge majority of people would vote for it.

I will read the other two links now.
