Finally got it :)

After dithering for almost 3 years, have finally invested in my dream camera body the E-P5. Thanks to a very kind Forum member who had one surplus to his requirements, I'm currently working my way through the Manual until the rain here stops. So far everything is so much more accessible than with the E-PM2. Great performance, form-factor..... Happy

I like my E-PM2... but my E-M5 MK 1 is better. Enjoy your E-P5.

I love my E-PM2 regards it's functions and features. It will still be used but more as a " compact" probably with the Pana 14mm pancake. Sometimes I found the body a tad small especially when paired with legacy glass

Re: Finally got it :)

My one is used more than the EM-1. It's great for street work as very few people see it as a "Pro" camera and take little notice of me.

Have FUN !

Thanks Graham until this awful cold wet windy weather subsides, I'll be studying the manual and functions. Roll on Spring !

Re: Finally got it :)

I'm thinking of getting one as a second body to go with my new e M1.
would you recommend the R or EZ version of the 14-42mm
and could anyone recommend a good source for buying - both second hand and new?

The R is better optically. I found the Z rather disappointing. The Panasonic 12-32 is a better compact zoom IMHO

I must have the best EZ they made. I found it very comparable with the R (which I then sold) For such a compact lens, it represents excellent Value for Money.

Re: Finally got it :)

I have the EZ (on my E-M10) and the R (on my E-PL5) both came as the kit lens

Optically I've never noticed any real difference but then I'm not a pixel peeper.

In operation I prefer the R. The manual zoom suits me more than the power zoom n the EZ. For some reason I always turn the wrong way with the EZ - I usually second guess myself and get it wrong!

The R has the disadvantage that you need to "unlock" it each time if you want to collapse it to be smaller and it's still not that small. The EZ is very hard to beat for size though, if you want the smallest package then it's the one to go for.

IMHO both lenses are overpriced new and I would try the For sale here as first port of call.

I haven't used any of the Panasonic zooms but my experience with the Panasonic 25mm F1.7 is very positive.
