Royal Mail Shares

I tried to buy 2000 worth, but of course only got 750 worth. Not wishing to keep such a small amount I sold these. Cheque for the sale came about a week ago.

However the re-payment of the balance of the 2000 has not yet appeared. The govt website says it will be refunded by 21st October, but it was not.

Has anyone had a refund? If so can you tell me how it was paid,

i.e. by:
(a) cheque
(b) refund to the account from which it was paid
or
(c) direct to the account nominated for dividends to be paid into.

I need to know who to chase for my refund.....

Re: Royal Mail Shares

I hope so....

Funny how the govt. is very efficient at taking money and grossley inefficient at returning it.

Peter, seems a common problem these days

Is there an interest rate stated which shall be paid in such an event arising ?

Re: Royal Mail Shares

We are also owed a refund, although for a smaller amount. I wonder whether it will be paid with the first dividend payment as they have our bank details?

I guess they have a heck of a lot of work to do to register the shares and so forth.

oooh yeah !

... they insert your name and postcode then the No. of shares and class and the computer system finds your address etc. ... Your Bank details are "squirted into the system" from your payment !

Selling the shares was done very efficiently by Equiniti, their cheque arrived by post in about 4 days.

Much was made in the press about the fact that the share allocations were to be made (if I remember rightly) on 8 October but repayments would not be made until the 21st, allowing them to earn interest.

Not that I am worried about my loss of interest, the so-called "savings account" I took the money out of was paying about 5 per annum on my missing 1250.

I still want it back though - it would nearly pay for an E-M1.

Thanks Nigel, at least I now know I am not alone

Maybe we will get it back in postage stamps!

Oddly enough, my wife works in a legal practice, and they have been told to send postage stamps, rather than cheques, when refunding small balances (under 50) on closed matters.

Apparently many people cannot be bothered to take cheques to the bank anymore, and solicitors are not allowed to write off un-presented cheques even though they may be years old - so they now have to send stamps instead!

I doubt it. He's just paying off a fraction of Gordon's overdraft.

Which Gordon had to take out when Maggie's FSTB (Financial Services Time Bomb) blew up in his face!

The point is they have ALL made huge mistakes and served us very badly. Probably the only two decent post-war prime ministers were Attlee and Macmillan.

I would agree, although I think we have to draw a distinction between decent and good.

Quite a few of them were decent people, but they also happened to be bungling idiots.

I actually happen to believe that Gordon Brown was a decent man at heart, but I am not so sure about Blair.
