My holiday nightmare

My wife Claire & I spent a lovely week walking & photographing in the mountains of Mallorca, staying at the same spa hotel as last year (high in the Orient Valley).
A couple of days after we came home, I began to feel awful, fever, delirium, temp over 41. I was the taken to Ninewells hospital in Dundee to an isolation ward, where I was diagnosed with Legionnaires Disease, which was probably picked up in the spa pool at the hotel. Being a notifiable disease, the environmental health people came to ask me quite a lot of questions.
I was told that I was lucky, because it can be fatal, but there was nothing I could do to prevent it.
The one word of advise that she gave was to run the shower for a couple of minutes before entering.
I am now at home recovering, but have been told it may take several months.
I was never a prolific poster, but will be visiting the forum as usual to check up on developments, etc.

Oh dear, sorry to hear that. At least it didn't spoil the holiday while you were there.

Hope you recover well, and soon.

Best wishes ... John

Re: My holiday nightmare

Sorry to hear this, Stewart. Hope you get better soon and thank goodness your wife didn't get it too.

You'll have to be careful when you go back there next year!

Re: My holiday nightmare

Sorry to hear of the unhappy end to your holiday, Stewart. Hope you hadn't re-booked for next year before you left .

I have looked at your website and you do at least have some good memories of the trip! A nice set.

Regards,
Ann1e
