A Wet Weekend

It began raining yesterday, too late to bring in the washing, isn't that always the case.
It is predicted to continue for all next week; at least it will be well rinsed before we see sunshine again.

The upside is that it's great weather for studio painting.

Re: A Wet Week Ahead

Interesting: I notice far right there's a tea towel with an impression of a young lady swigging a glass of wine. Upside down of course, it is Aus. after all!

That must be why you can see her the right way up then!

It started raining yesterday in the afternoon with about 6mm falling but it has been fairly steady today with about 26mm so far (at 4.14pm). It's supposed to be wetter tomorrow.

Re: A Wet Week Ahead

Enjoy your painting time Mark.

We've had a thoroughly grey and cold week in East Anglia hopefully, Summer is due to arrive later today.

We've already had 10mm and it's still raining, probably reach 12 by midnight; and 5-10mm predicted tomorrow.

I've had a great day painting, Davy. I am well into the new subject and starting to paint faster. Should have it done by midweek if the rain continues!

Re: A Wet Weekend

I'm shocked Mark, that doesn't look like a Hills Hoist.

I thought they were obligatory for Australian citizens. My neighbour is Australian and he has one, are you sure you're Australian?

Nevertheless, enjoy your painting.

Re: A Wet Weekend

Meanwhile, on the weather front today here we are having one of those British "several seasons in one day" events which are often joked about.

Overnight it was 10c (which is warmer than most of this week), now at mid day it's 16.5c and forecast to be 24c by 4pm. Winter to Summer in less than 12 hours.

Regards.

Re: A Wet Weekend

Just got back from a week long dog show, have had to put the dehumidifier in the caravan to sop up the wet. Not a dry moment for 5 days and the camera never came out of the bag.

Re: A Wet Weekend

I emptied a trug of lawn mower clippings intop the garden waste recycling bin a week ago. Yesterday I tipped a foot of water out of it! More sunshine and less rain predicted for the coming week though.

Re: A Wet Weekend

Never mind Mark you have your fair share of suun shine down there.

Great day yesterday here in the Midlands, sat in the garden in the shade most of the day, not so good today overcast and dull.

Peter, David, OM -
From the sound of it, today you are each a man for all seasons. It's 1:30am here and the current temperature is 13.1'C.
I'm up late 'cos I've just watched for the umpteenth time, The Battle of Britain and I daresay it won't be the last.

Thanks all for your comments and UK weather report.

Re: A Wet Weekend

Yesterday we had 21 mm of rain and today so far 61 = 82 and it it is still raining and looks like it will for a few more days. Good for the drought affected areas.

Re: A Wet Weekend

Yes Terry, and I think we Australians should never complain about the rain.

In spite of flood damage the upside is that it waters our crops, cleans our rivers and fills our dams.

I guess I should add some pics of today's wet Drive to Reedy Creek at Eldorado where your 4WD would have come in handy. The Mazda took one look and decided not to go there.

Reedy Creek was running wild where I saw a woman panning for gold.

Re: A Wet Weekend

I wouldn't be taking my Forrester up that track either.

So far today (till 10pm) it has dropped 119mm today (& still raining), 40.4mm Saturday & 6.2mm on Friday. We are inland & the city & coast is copping a lot more.
