Why do I need a 25mm f2.8 when I have a 14-54?

As part of my newly acquired addicition to buying all things Olympus (I have the same illness with airguns), just arrived today on yet another body (E-620 this time) is a 25mm f2.8 pancake lens.

Apart from being small and light, and having a slightly wider aperture at 25mm than my MkI 14-54 f2.8-3.5, why would I want one of these in my lens kit?

I'm guessing those ARE the only two reasons, but tell me more....

Small and light are the only reasons really.

Looks like it'll be going then....

By the way Francois, it came on an E-620 with only 237 shutter actuations.
Reconsidering whether to keep this body and sell on the E-510 despite previously saying the 510 fitted better than the 600 I had (briefly!). I managed with an OM2!!

I read yesterday several reviews which led me to conclude some say the E-30 is better than the E-3, and some say the E-620 is better than the E-30!

Apart from weather proofing naturally, but I have the E-1 for that. Big, rugged, etc......

Until such time an E-5 comes into my life, the combo E-3 and E-620 is satisfactory for me. I understand your attraction to the big chunky grip of the E-510, but the E-620 offers much more. It would be a shame to not keep it.

As for the 25mm pancake, if you take with you the E-620 and the pancake, you get the equivalent of a 50mm classic lens, good for general use, in a small and light package. Not quite PEN like but smallish still.
