It's Hard Somtimes

Life hurts.

Driving to work this morning I crossed the tidal causeway to leave the island where I live.

The tide was half up.
Not a breath of wind and magical reflections down Pyfleet creek towards the rising sun.
Wonderful light.
A metre of the lightest mist hanging above the water.

Crying out for photographic attention

And where was I going? WORK

Re: It's Hard Somtimes

Hec, Ifeel for you.
I can honestly estimate that every time I'm in a rush around Skye and or the Highlands with very little time to spare all I see are scenes crying out for attention.

When I have plenty of time it's either bright sunshine with clear blue skies (OK, great for postcard companies), or it's chucking it down with rain.

I was photographing a wedding yesterday and after the rain stopeed the scenery was tremendous but I had a great long list of shots the B&G wanted doing.
By the time I'd finished so had the best of the light.

I think I'd have had a convenient "puncture" to delay me for half an hour. If you ever do that, just remember to rub your hands in the dirt - you don't want to arrive looking too clean! Also, save it for really special conditions ( like this morning by the sounds of it), there are only so many punctures you can get away with!

Re: It's Hard Somtimes

I know the feeling only too well and it has just got worse

At work we used to get paid an allowance for using our own cars which we were contracted to provide. This allowed a wee bit of wandering between appointments to make the most of long journeys away from home. We have now changed over to pool cars, with trackers in, and I hardly take a pic during the day now. It is so frustrating

Can remember a guy at school who was confused when spoken to by a teacher who questioned him on a note saying he had been off due to the death of his grandmother. It was the sixth note with the same excuse!!

Could be true if his Grandad was Henry VIII.

Mmmm - I like the thought process here. Your tip about rubbing hands in the dirt makes you sound suspiciously well acquaiunted with this tactic

As for living and working on Skye - I can't imagine what it's like to be tortured in such a way.

Heh Hoh, in the London office today so left the house at 05:45 and won't be home till 19:30 at best probably so not a hope of getting my hands dirty today.

Don't feel too sorry for Seonnaidh, he's a pro tog living and working on Skye!

Whatever the frustrations, that's got to beat commuting to London to sit all day in an office!

Anyone here not want to swap places with him? Some people want jam on it.
