They Move too darned fast

What with other events both fun and otherwise talking over my life recently I had my 1st really nice walk of the year at Merthyr Mawr today on the South Wales Coast.

When we got to the beach I was lining up a nice shot of a load of Seagulls when I heard a thundering in one ear and these things rattled through the field of view

So I duly obliged by pressing the shutter

I will never know what the gull picture would have looked like as they headed for the skies, and my overriding opinion on Horse photography has not changed... They move too darned fast ! Which is my poor excuse for why they are not as well framed as I would have liked

However the walk through the woods kind of made up for it. At least trees stay where you put them whilst you line up a picture

Regards
Andy

Re: They Move too darned fast

Great Horsey silhouettes....but I love the shot in the woods.
Don't know if you have put shots on from this viewpoint before but it looks like a great place to do some shots through the seasons.
Also one of those horses would come in handy on the horizon at the end of the path.

Re: They Move too darned fast

Great shots although they were fast. I also like the warm tones of the third. I agree with Keith, it would be great spot for a seasonal photo series.

As someone who grew up riding a thoroughbred, I know the whole point is to be too darned fast , but I'm sure that they will oblige if you ask the riders whether they will gallop past you a few times till you get the shot right. Send it to them afterwards, they'll love it!

Re: They Move too darned fast

Hi Catherine thanks for the nice comments

I would have preferred them running into the picture, but they surned out mostly OK - these are 2 from the 6 I managed to shoot and are all useable

Keith

Thanks for your comments as well

The only trouble with your suggestion is the hours drive and hours walk to get there. I plan to do similar in a few other locations nearer to home

Regards
Andy

Dear Andy,

I really like the first one, very effective indeed.

Cheers
