For Sale: 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 non-SWD, boxed

Decided to get rid of my fantastic 50-200. It's undeniably a fantastic lens, but I rarely use it due to a) it's size and b) AF performance on my E-M5.

Considered upgrading to E-M1, but the whole reason I shoot m43 is for the tiny equipment.

Glass is immaculate, body in used but VGC. Comes with hood, tripod mount, caps, and in original box, with user manual and a third-party m43-43 adapter.

Any questions or more photos required, please let me know.

How does 300 including RMSD sound?

High-res photos on my Flickr.

Sounds excellent value, but I already have this. It's a superb quality lens; works well on E-M1 with adapter, optionally with EC-14 or EC-20 for even longer reach. Hope you find an appreciative buyer.

Is this lens still for sale? If so do you have any pictures of it attached to the E-M5.
Thanks.

Hi, sure is!

No problems taking photos of it on the E-M5, but won't be till the weekend I'm afraid.

Re: For Sale: 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 non-SWD, boxed

Having now purchased a couple of M43 Oly PRO lenses my lust for the 50-200mm has waned. I'd still like to try one at some stage though just to see how great it is but I have no intention of purchasing.

A free bump...

Maybe this will help the sale ... taken without any add-ons using the 50-200 on an E3.

Would expect better results on a more upto date bit of gear.

Someone really ought to go for this. Such a superb lens - especially on E-M1 where auto-focus benefits from PDAF - and such good value at this price.

I'm interested in it, but using it on an EM-5 I imagine it will be mainly manual focus? I was thinking about a 70-300mm but think this could be more versatile.

Re: For Sale: 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 non-SWD, boxed

E-M5 II or original E-M5?

I have E-M5 II, and the 50-200 autofocuses on it reasonably well in good light, but I prefer to use SAF + MF setting and then use the focus ring (with peaking and magnification) to get it exactly right if/when it's critical. I don't do lots of fast moving sports or action (tend to do more landscape and architecture) so I have the time to MF. I'm also lucky enough to have an E-M1 and so my 50-200 is normally attached to that, and I usually have 12-60 on the E-M5 II to make a nice versatile combo.

If you're doing fast moving stuff (motorsports or birds in flight etc), you might prefer something like the M43 75-300 or the much more expensive Panasonic 100-400 which AF faster. For my less hurried style I find 50-200 excellent.

I also sometimes add one of the excellent tele-converters EC-14 or EC-20 occasionally. 50-200 with EC-14 is effectively 70-280 f/4.0 - f/4.9. Used EC-14 can be picked up for about 150 if you're patient (as can a used EC-20; 50-200 with EC-20 is effectively 100-400 f/5.6 - f7.0)

The 70-300 (you mean the old Four thirds lens I presume) is likely to be much slower and less accurate in focussing, as it's not as wide aperture nor as high quality as the High Grade 50-200. But it's more affordable.

Hope the OP doesn't mind me giving impartial suggestions. I'm a fan of the 50-200 (non-SWD).

(Now I reread the OP, I guess he doesn't mind as he said himself:

"It's undeniably a fantastic lens, but I rarely use it due to a) it's size and b) AF performance on my E-M5." )

Re: For Sale: 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 non-SWD, boxed

Thanks for the advice Rob. I was getting lens sizes mixed up, I was considering the M43 75-300, but think optically the 50-200 will be better and with the option of tele converters this will be better. I don't intend any fast action shots or bif yet. Thanks again.
