Re: Scaffolding in progress

I'd echo that. Somehow, it doesn't quite work for me. The dark shadow by his right hand makes it look odd - it's distracting. I feel that the high contrast makes me feel uncomfortable with it, overall.

But you've gotta try, haven't you?

It's called a silhouette Keith.

Re: Scaffolding in progress

Would be better if the left hand wasn't in the shadow of the board there - so the hand was properly silhouetted. Likewise the vertical lines of shadow on the columns behind also detract from the silhouette.

Re: Scaffolding in progress

Yeah, I agree. Actually I was waiting and waiting for someone to exit from the doorway on the right, having taken an exposure reading from the back of my hand (in sunlight). I got bored and then this builder person walked into view. Nothing intentional, just an experiment.

I don't care what it's called Steve. I still don't think it quite works.

Here's a tip for you Keith: stop looking at it, you're only wasting your time.

Re: Scaffolding in progress

Maybe your monitor needs calibrating? Very dark on mine too, could possibly be improved with some work, although I realise we're in photo fair not looking for crit! Perhaps the colour version would shed more light on it?

I would strongly suggest, Steve, that you curb your penchant for sarcasm. there is no need or call for it.

Re: Scaffolding in progress

I'll let you have the last word, it's obviously within your personality. Now please leave it there. If you don't like an image, why comment, I mean I've looked at your 'art' and quickly moved on, without commenting. But if you must know, and do I really care (?) I don't particularly like the photo that much either.

Re: Scaffolding in progress

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, this is not the critique forum, so critical comment is not appropriate here.

Re: Scaffolding in progress

It's true that this is Foto Fair and therefore critical comment is not invited, but I do feel the level of sarcasm used in reply was not appropriate either. Please let us not erode the friendly nature of this forum.

Re: Scaffolding in progress

come on folks; lets play nicely

the worst thing we can say about someone's photo is "don't like it" without saying what could be done with some PP or when a similar scene is being photographed again.

" We only need to listen to all advice and thoughts from others, and after a polite thank you we are free to do as we wish with our photography"

Sorry; bit of the long time photo forum moderator popping out
