Android tablet security.

Having just ordered a Nexus 7 for use when I travel I wondered what security software if any, those of you who already have one use?

Thanks

I have the free version of Norton Mobile on my Galaxy Note - seems to be OK.

Is that the version which gives double-posts?

Re: Android tablet security.

I use a Nexus when travelling (and increasingly at home) and have to admit I don't have any security software installed. However I have used Avast in the past and would second it as very good (& free).

Just for interest I have used the Nexus for e-mailing odd photos when I am away, and to avoid trying to email big files I use a free app called Image Shrink Lite to reduce photos down to 500kb or less. It works extremely well - recommended.

Re: Android tablet security.

Thanks for the info. I've had it since yesterday and have Avast running on it.
So far I'm impressed apart from when it wouldn't connect to my hub tonight. In the end I just deleted the address/password and re-inserted it and now all OK (mind you the wife had been having a play with it).

As I'm on BT internet I am quite please how many wi-fi spots I can find on FON which I had herd was slow and not very good, seems OK to me.

Look out for The Cloud free hotspots too. There is an app called FastConnect to help locate hotspots - lots of them in shapping malls and department stores, for example.

Re: Android tablet security.

I'm using Avast on my Nexus 7 quite happily.
Is yours the SIM card version?

I'd also look at installing something like PREY in case you lose it or someone swipes it.
Probably more effective on a mobile, but still usable on a pure WiFi pad.

If you have a smartphone as well as Bt Internet for your ISP, have a look into installing BT SmartTalk, which allows you to place internet calls chargeable to your registered home number at the appropriate landline rate.

I wish I'd taken my then new Nexus 4 to India with me rather than my old Nokia last March.
My Dad had a medical problem whilst I was away and I racked up a mobile spend of over 250 in less than a week.

If I'd had the BT SmartTalk app installed on a smartphone with WiFi access, I could have paid for WiFi at each hotel we visited, about 1.20, and made the calls at UK local rate.
