Amsterdam

just coming into Amsterdam on Tuesday I spotted this factory / powerstation in the fog.

I managed just 3 shots before the plane banked away - this is the best of the 3.

It's obviously taken through an aircraft window

Closer crop

Regards
Andy

Re: Amsterdam

Great shot!

However it is not a powerstation, but a Blast Furnace (Tata steel complex, former Corus plant at IJmuiden)

Re: Amsterdam

Thanks for the clarification. It wasn't easy to tell where we were so I couldn't look it up on google earth

Another with a reflection has worked out OK, but I may need to reconsider the colour as one or the other of these needs work

Regards
Andy

Love the uncropped version of the first shot.

Very, very atmospheric

Re: Amsterdam

Really great shots, Andy. Karel/Dogcow was faster than I was, but indeed it must be IJmuiden, the steelworks. It is located at the seaside, but in a plane it seems to be near Amsterdam . I prefer both uncropped versions BTW.

Re: Amsterdam

Sorry to jump on your thread but this is probably the place from below the clouds.

The Fast flying ferry from Amsterdam takes you to Ijmuiden,a great trip.

I remember coming into Schipol from Stansted in 1987 on a Focker Friendship on the day of the great storm, still got my brown corduroys on now .

Re: Amsterdam

Andy

These are great captures, and definitely worth investing the time to tweak to make them outstanding.

My preference is actually for the second that you posted, I prefer the sky and like the reflection from the water.
