Panasonic Leica 200mm

Would you buy the Panasonic Leica 200mm f2.8 lens?

A new basic video review at:

http://thisweekinphoto.com/panasonic...bout-the-gear/

The lens came out late last year but I only just noticed it via the above review.

Re: Panasonic Leica 200mm

But it's very nice though Henry I had a play with one at the recent Photo Show at the NEC. For me I preferred the reach and price tag of the 100-400 but it's a lot slower.

Re: Panasonic Leica 200mm

Uncle Phil, you got to play with it at NEX?? :JEALOUS.

Would love to have this. The 150mm is just not enough. BUT that price tag it carries, I can only dream. 100-400..at tat not bright enough.

Re: Panasonic Leica 200mm

It was at the Photography Show at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham in March this year Henry. I agree about the 100-400 it would be nice if it was a bit brighter at 400 but high iso is pretty good these days so it's not so bad. If it had a much wider aperture then it's weight would go up so it's always a compromise between max aperture weight and price as you know of course. Mind you I thought gear was cheap in Malaysia

Re: Panasonic Leica 200mm

Unfortunately the prices are pretty much international. The advantage (disadvantage) is the difference in exchange rate. At the point of the 12-100, the Ringgit was pretty strong but have since dropped to almost GBP1 to RM6. With our new Gov, it's going to to go stronger. So not that attractive

Re: Panasonic Leica 200mm

To resurrect an old thread...

I was out at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod again yesterday, and as I've found in previous years my 75mm f1.8 was very useful for covering the middle of the stage in the pavilion from the front of the non-reserved seats. But my new 12-200 lens was just too slow for the light levels to zoom in tighter (it was fine for the brighter outside stages however).

Wouldn't it be nice to have a 150mm f2 reborn as an M.Zuiko lens? I'd prefer this to a 200mm f2.8 to be honest.

Chris

There's always the MMF-3.

(And if adapter + Little Tuna is prohibitively expensive, the Sigma 150mm f/2.8 macro is a fine general purpose telephoto lens, though perhaps AF is too slow for some purposes )

Re: Panasonic Leica 200mm

The TC looks interesting. Compatible with 100-400 and EM-1?
