I have always taken at least 4 sd cards with me on trips thus the questions on speed so I can work out if I need high speed cards and if so how many.
Thanks for the help
John
I have mine set for stills for the fast card & video for the slower as it is sufficient for that but ProCapture does require or at least benefit from fast storage, especially when saving both JPEG & raw.

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

Here is a simple example using ProCapture. A bird is on a branch and it is going to take off without warning. In this case a Kingfisher waiting for a fish.
Aim at bird, half press shutter, then when the bird vanishes press the shutter release - and you get a sequence including a shot like this:

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

I used Pro capture to get shots of a hammer striking an object, as described above I feathered the shutter and pressed it down when I heard the hammer strike the object. I got pictures of the hammer descending, hitting the object and then the object moving after the strike. Just goes to show how slow my reactions are to hearing the noise of the impact and pressing the shutter.

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

Here is one of the better frames of lightning using Pro Capture (adjusted with Capture One). I would not have got it except for Pro Capture.

The 64g UHS2 cards are very expensive in Australia so I would appreciate any feedback before investing large sums of money on them.
I remember when a 1GB CF card cost around 300GBP . Probably best to wait a while, unless you are experiencing real frustration, since prices will probably fall as these high speeds become commonplace.

Live Comp is good, but only on a tripod though.

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

WEX are advertising 20% off all memory cards until the end of the month. That brings the Lexar 32GB 2000x Professional UHS-II SDHC down to about 64, which sounds quite good to me.

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

Since John (ozzie) is downunder, then I have found another supplier that looks better than pc.byte (in price & ratings). https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SanDisk-....c100338.m3726

Thanks Ross
I managed to pick up a 64g 300mbs uhs 2 for $135 which is way cheaper than local stores were quoting. So should be set.
Got focus stacking working (thanks Ross ) Has anyone used the focus bracketing feature for landscape if so what are the two settings you would use for say f5.6. I have tried 10 shots with both fine and wide settings but get mostly out of focus shots after the first three or four.
Thanks for all the help this is still a great forum to be part of.
John

That sounds like a good price, but be sure it is genuine though (packed & sealed in original packaging etc).

Having posted the above, I thought that I would put my money where my mouth is and ordered one yesterday morning. I selected the free (4 day) delivery option and was surprised when I received a text yesterday evening to say that the package would be delivered today. It arrived as promised this afternoon so I am glad that I didn't pay for a faster delivery option.

I haven't tried it yet but I am pleased to see that it includes its own high speed card reader. I will be interesting to see if I can notice any difference in the card's operating speed.

Ron
