FL-50R Flash

Still looking to complete my Olympus outfit I am loking for 1 or 2 FL-50R flashes - If you have one you could be tempted to part with at a sensible price I would love to hear from you

Re: FL-50R Flash

LCE Bath have a pair going at 150 each. Maybe they'd do a deal on the two.

Re: FL-50R Flash

I'm reliably informed that the FL-50R is now discontinued in Europe so I would snap these up if I was you.

I can't, personally, understand why Olympus would want to discontinue the FL-50R. It is quite large for use with a Pen or OM-D body, but it's still ideal for use off-camera and is much more powerful than the FL-600R, which is really an upgraded (and much-improved) FL-36R.

At the risk of being wrong (and my memory may be failing me) there was talk a few years ago of banning the solder that is used in most electronic circuits (because of the lead content). If so, the equipment would have to be re-designed to use a different kind of solder. If I'm right, Olympus may have decided not to re-design the FL-50R and stop selling it instead.
I got mine from an eBay supplier in the Far East about a year ago when supplies were becoming difficult. The FL-50/FL-50R is the only flash that is supported by the FP-1 flash grip (and I wanted one of those).

Re: FL-50R Flash

Been playing with flashes - could make use of one more FL-50R if anyone has one - they want to move on

Have paid between 140 and 170 for 3 depending on condition

Re: FL-50R Flash

I have two Yongnuo YN560 mk111s and two FL50-R units and highly recommend them. Very similar to the FL50-R easy to use and wireless with certain models I use them with an E5. These are a bargain for off camera work so long as you do not need TTL. Here's a link to one on ebay.

This is interesting - I will try to find out if this is the reason for the apparent discontinuation in Europe.
