Ploughman's Launch

One man and his old horse plodding backwards and forwards across the meadow thinking wistfully of his cheese and pickle lunch?

Not any more. You hear the howl of a big turbocharged 6 cylinder diesel hauling a gigantic chisel plough at running pace. He will be finished before lunch anyway.

Re: Ploughman's Launch

The Ploughman's Lunch was an advertizing scam dreamt up by the cheese marketeers.
THere is no history to it prior to the 50s

Re: Ploughman's Launch

No wonder cheese costs so much...paying for all that advertising....ho ho.

Good job you took this on the way up the hill as on the down row you wouldn't have seen him in the dust.

Nice one

Pete

Pete, I do so often read your "intro" and can almost hear the words in a Jack Hargreaves voice streaked with a hint of cynicism ...

I must note the date of the "real Ploughing match locally" ... to perhaps capture a horse and trad plough Team

Be a laugh if some monster rig like that above were to turn up the night before and plough the whole field for them

Ooh, that's a nice big John, Deere. I must take a photo of my John Deere, while it's still running. Anyone got a biscuit I can tempt it out of its shed with?

There was. In Aberdeenshire and the rest of Buchan there was and occasionally still is the best 'Plooman's lunch. Stovies wi' a bannock and a glass of milk.
Ye cannae whack it!
