A week in Cornwall

We're just back from our annual visit to Cornwall, and as usual had a great time. Along with the usual family holiday stuff, I did manage to get out for a few hours with the camera.

..... RE-EDITED IMAGE...... I have 2 sunsets to process, and a couple of other bits and bobs (that may or may not see the light of day). But first is an image from a tiny, hard to find cove, about 10 miles from Land's End. Three or four wrong turns down single track lanes were taken before I eventually found it, even with a Satnav!

It's well worth the effort though, a wonderful little spot full of rounded boulders. I'd say it would be best to visit at a medium to high tide, but I'm sure there are compositions to be found even at low tide.

I even resisted the temptation to do (my default) 30 second exposure!...... although I did do various length exposures.

Re: A week in Cornwall

I've replaced the image (Sunday morning) as I really didn't like the processing on the first version. It was much too dark and dull. I'm aware of my tenancy to process on the dark side, and try to fight it!

Thanks Dave. I don't know what I was thinking - editing late at night with lager in hand, probably doesn't help When I looked this morning I knew i had to redo it.

Next up a sunset over Portreath bay and Gull Rock, including the 'Pepperpot' building.

We forgive you Chris - but not the lager drinking!

Great photo Chris, recognised the location instantly. We were there almost a year ago and spent a week taking seascape shots. Had a great time and was totally spoilt for choice of locations. Don't really think I could share the photos here though as they weren't taken with my Olympus cameras.

Re: A week in Cornwall

Thanks Steve, it is a great area for seascapes.

Just looked at your shot from here on your website. You had a much nicer sky than I did! Not sure if it's just because of the low tide, but yours is more sand than boulders. Although I believe sometimes the boulders there get covered by sand depending on the tide conditions.

Re: A week in Cornwall

Thanks John.
We were sat on the patio of the cottage we were staying in, which luckily is on the beach! As the colour started in the sky, I couldn't miss the opportunity so grabbed my gear. About 1 minute later I was in position!

Re: A week in Cornwall

It's a lovely cottage too, but it's location makes it special.
