Looking for improvement This is the e-group critique board. If you post a picture here it will be assumed that you are looking for comprehensive technical feedback - both good and bad, but always respectful. Only post pictures here if you can deal with potentially negative constructive criticism. Anyone is qualified to comment and post feedback, and everyone is encouraged to do so. NB: "Looking for Improvement" is the place to post any pictures you would like advice on improving, no matter how bad you might think they are.

Taking the plunge....Me Too

Never posted om here before, but took this picture a few days ago, and was not quite sure in colour so converted to B&W...but i'm not sure again... hey ho...

Hi Peter,

I always like black and white shots. I like the idea of the shot, leading into the light but, in my opinion, it's a little dark in the foreground. Problem is if you raise the exposure to compensate then it will completely blow out at the top.

What do you use for post processing? If LR4 you could try bringing up the shadows.

I like this.

The light as the path goes into the open is great. What I would do is try and bring some detail into the shadows around the path leading into the picture whilst dodging on the path itself a little to create a lead in to the point where the path bursts out into the open.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the suggestions, will post colour version, and alter the shadows as hec and Richard have suggested, hopefully post later this week. I use PS CS5

I don't know what the aperture was but I would have stopped down to f16 and the sun would burst out into a star...I suspect you know that of course and that wasn't your intention?

Love the image as it is, nice balance, contrast and composition.
