Price of the Sigma SD1

I am flabbergasted. Checking B&H right now, the Sigma SD1 is listed for $6,900.

The new x3 sensor is supposed to be the business but can a camera that offers only a 24x16 APS-C sensor be sold at the low end of a medium format camera?

Since its announcement, I had been keeping an eye on that one, but I was not expecting it to be more than $3000. And that was a top estimate!

Next thing you know, Sigma is going to put a red dot on their cameras to justify the price!

Re: Price of the Sigma SD1

Come down a bit then

list price is $9,700.

Great commentary on LuLa about this. Really nails the situation.

Myself - I think realistically 1,000 in the UK max for the body or it dies. Sigma just doesn't have the prestige or track record IMO to justify asking more. Also anyone purchasing it is going to have to invest in some top quality Sigma HSM glass - so it won't be cheap to try.

Re: Price of the Sigma SD1

My local major camera store are advertising it as "46 megapixel 2416mm APS-C sensor" at only 5,999.99.

Stocks are coming in June - think I'll definately have to get a demo.
