E-400 v E-520 Sharpness

I have an upcoming trip to India - a once in a lifetime kind of trip. I aim to take a mostly HG glass set up (12-60, 50-200, possibly 50). Because it is still monsoon time I thought I would take my E-1 body (currently being given a preparatory service by Olympus). I want to take a second body as a back up or in case I need a second FL in a hurry. I have both the E-520 (which has lots of advantages in terms of a more complete specification) or the E-400, which has a variant Kodak sensor (any difference) and is anecdotally sharper.

Does anyone have any advice on whether there is a real difference in IQ between these two bodies? I know that I get more flexibility with the E-520's options.

Re: E-400 v E-520 Sharpness

I'd be interested to know too.

Doesn't the E1 have a Kodak CCD too (older than e-400) though?
For that reason I'd take the e-520 : to have more pixels and faster shooting/option when you might need them and the rain isn't falling on you.
(Although my e-410 does fine in drizzle...)

Re: E-400 v E-520 Sharpness

I agree that the mechanical/software advantages of the E-520 are there (and it shares the same battery - real advantage). However, I get the impression when I have shot the same scene with the same lens using the same settings that the E-400 seems slightly sharper and slightly less likely to blow highlights. There seems to be a slight difference in WB as well. So, if IQ is the issue, I am in a bit of a quandary.
