The only reason I want an M1X....

Is for the joystick, positioning an AF target at the moment is a real PITA.

Oh....HHHR might be nice.

Other than that it's too huge, heavy and expensive....IMVHO.

A joystick would be a dream

Hhhr would be good I think. But I can't justify cost or size on that basis

Likewise.... The AF would also be useful on the odd occasion (but I could pick up a cheap 1D IV and borrow a couple of my sisterís lenses if I I frequently needed sports standard AF).

Who knows, us EM1.2 owners may get a joystick in the next FW update 😉😉

Re: The only reason I want an M1X....

Be careful what you wish for. My XT2 has the joystick and to me its a complete pain in the butt. Far too easily moved accidentally between shots so needs constant checking to avoid OOF shots. Disabled mine as soon as I got it. Much prefer to focus, hold, recompose, then take the shot. Been using this method for over fifty years and see no reason to change. Can see a possible use for it when using a tripod, otherwise mine stays turned off. One less annoying distraction to worry about. Regards, Ian W.

The only reason that I want one, is because Barr1e's got one!

Don't joke. There may be those that might believe it.

Seriously though, I believe a FW update will come later this year for the E-M1 II & hopefully with some of the AF area options but I'd probably be hoping too much for updated AF algorithms used in the E-M1X though (of course, that's not meaning AI AF).

I'd like an EM1-X but I think I'll wait until Olympus do the customary "free grip" offer

Cheers,

JohnGG

Re: The only reason I want an M1X....

Iím hoping for the Orientation Specific Focus Point option to be added to the 1ii in the next firmware update. That would be a major advantage quite often in wildlife photography when your subject is fairly static, but you want to catch transient bits of behaviour while switching orientation.

I find I miss a lot of shots when I have to frig about moving the focus point via the (monumentally fiddly) 4-way buttons or (unreliable) track pad. So often the creature has moved again by the time Iím properly focussed.

Being very left-eyed Iím hoping for a joystick on the M1iii in due course (on the ii I have to use the track pad screen flipped out to the left to stop my nose moving it, and while handholding the 300 moving my left hand to do that is a right pain). Iíve played with these on the M1X for quite a while and found them brilliant and I didnít seem to knock them unexpectedly.
