Thought 'sport' required physical exercise, more than turning a bl**** steering wheel and pressing peddles. And certainly not wearing earrings, especially if you're blessed with X-Y chromosomes.

Yeah. It's a matter of where you draw the line, and the FIA have always kept that line flexible.

Anyway, another example from the predecessor-but-one team of Brawn:

Now, of course, those of us Brits of a certain age know for sure that Benetton were cheating in '94...

Ha!

Jibes like that are always going to be ignored until those who make them have personally completed 56 laps of the Sepang F1 circuit at an average speed of 210kph in the usual conditions of 31 degrees C and 91% humidity.

Re: It's Not Cricket!

The much revered W.G.Grace was a great cricketer and a renowned cheat.

Essex fast bowler Charles Kortright was incensed by some sledging and bombarded him with short balls, getting Grace LBW and caught behind in one over. Intimidated by Grace's glowering, and reputation, the umpire ruled: "Not out!"

Finally, Kortright uprooted two stumps. Grace briefly stood his ground, then walked off with, well, bad grace, as Kortright proclaimed: "Surely you're not going, Doctor? One of the stumps is still standing."

Once, when the ball lodged in his shirt after he'd played it, Grace managed to complete several runs pursued by fielders who eventually forced him to stop. He claimed correctly that he'd have been out if he'd handled the ball to remove it.

He was a doctor and hence an amateur, but the equivalent of a cricketing millionaire. He had a reputation for treating impoverished patients without presenting any bill, and he went to extreme lengths to support benefits for fellow players, even giving up proceeds from his own testimonial fund.

Re: It's Not Cricket!

Actually isn't tampering with the ball allowed? You can dry it with a cloth but don't have to dry it all over leaving one side damp, and you can polish one side e.g. on your trousers. The problem isn't the tampering, its the level of tampering and when there is a degree of anything then someone will always try to take it to the line or maybe just over it.
