Re: How do you all do it?

Increasingly using the sharpening tool in Nik Collection, the default for screen looks pretty good. Previously I used sharpen on export in LR which is a pretty blunt tool.

Re: How do you all do it?

I use Photoshop CC resize image much improved over previous versions and then sharpen the Luminosity Channel in LAB mode then save as JPEG between 60-80% quality.

Re: How do you all do it?

I shoot mostly macro, as RAW files. I use Olympus Viewer 3 to open my ORF files, as none of my other software reads them and convert to TIFFs for processing.

I then use Topaz Plugins*, including for sharpening (no in-camera sharpening). I then get Olympus Viewer 3 to simultaneous re-size and save as high quality JPEGs. (I choose, throughout, options which retain EXIF data). I may vary my final image size, depending on where I am uploading it, but around 1,000 pixels wide. I always save at the highest quality available, at all stages, but may have to choose a lower quality where huge amounts of detail make the file size too large for uploading.

* Usually in Photoshop but currently in Topaz photofxLab.

Re: How do you all do it?

Thank you all for your helpful replies, apologies for the late reply but I am back at work and the opportunities to post have diminished.

It seems that the way to do it is to sharpen what is left rather than preserve what was there to start with. I'll have to start practicing with sharpening as I have shied away from it as it seems very complicated. And what little dabbling I have done ends up looking terrible. Annoyingly my tablet software doesn't offer sharpening, does anybody use/know of an android app that sharpens well? I'm currently having to use the tablet as my laptop has given up the ghost.

Thanks particularly to Paul who's squirrel was one of the images that really got me thinking about this subject.

Will
