Re: Video tutorial to help with uploading to the photo gallery

Hi all - a really pleased that the video has been received well

I will add a link to the front page of the site so it can be seen more easily by new members!

Video is going to be an increasingly important tool, I'm sure.

Re: Video tutorial to help with uploading to the photo gallery

Incidentally, there is a second video, if you haven't seen it, which deals specifically with including your gallery photos in a forum post, see:

http://e-group.uk.net/video/e-group-...mage-post.html

I actually produced these videos almost three years ago! Now that YouTube supports resolutions big enough for computer screens, I may well re-do these and upload to YouTube (and save some of our server bandwidth! ).

Re: Video tutorial to help with uploading to the photo gallery

Hi Ian, have just gone through the original tutorial without any problems what-so-ever. Very helpful as I've been having problems uploading to the site. I use FIREFOX as my browser. Thanks again for the effort.

I use FireFox by default because it supports colour management.

Have you managed to fix the problem you are having with the help of the videos?

Haven't tried it yet but will do so shortly. Keep getting error 15? when trying to upload from host internet web-site. Only happens here on e-system talk UK.

Maybe I can help?

Are you using the option to upload an image to the gallery from another site using a source url (link?).

I have just done this using one of my own shots on the FTU gallery and it worked as expected and is here:

Are these tutorials being given a prominent place on the forums for easy access.

One thing I did not understand was this part as I thought I could only store images in the gallery and only show them in Foto Fair or looking for perfection.

I also tried copying the link to insert and it would not copy so had to use the "open" icon.

Hi any thoughts on the part I rung in red......where do I find it and has it always been here.
I access the site via MY gallery page so MUST be missing a lot of the features.
Thanks
keith

Hi Keith you should see this page after initially uploading your photo or photos. There is a stage where you can edit the information fields just before you commit the images to your gallery.

I'm not very sure what it is that isn't working for you?

Thanks Ian.......It's ME as usual.
After a bit of clicking around I have worked it all out.
I thought there was some different sections I had missed...whereas they are sections within the gallery.
I had just been entering my photos into the gallery and not linking them to a sub-section or putting a keyword.

So this video tutorial got ONE person sorted....eventually....lol

To be honest, I'm not a great fan of the gallery software we use. But it's one of a few gallery offerings that integrates well with the forum software. I'm on the look out for a better alternative and the Open Source Menalto Gallery 3 looks promising but they are dragging their feet on vBulletin integration.
