Fascinating stuff. My last (35mm) cameras lasted me about 15 years - I wonder whether my present cameras will be museum pieces in less than half that time.

All this talk of 3D reminds me of the Nimslo camera http://home.att.net/~sales3d/WNimsloBook.htm which at the time was heralded as the future of photography. With in a year of launch it was on its way out. Which if any of these technologies will take off only time will tell.

Interesting article. I think computational photography is going to be getting bigger over the next few years, see Oly's de-fisher, CA remover etc in Studio that is based on info form the lens. However I think 3D and variable focus might be a way off yet. At least for the mainstream, science may get them quicker.
