To the Lighthouse

Some photos from recent ramblings around the west coast of the Rhins of Galloway - on the map of Scotland it's that big hammerhead in the bottom left corner that sticks out into the Irish Sea.

This is Killantringan Lighthouse just north of the village of Portpatrick, facing across the North Channel with the Northern Irish coastline in the far distance.

A series of wide sandy beaches stretch northwards from the lighthouse for a couple of miles or so:

The brown water in the burn isn't as unpleasant as it looks - merely peat staining from the moorland above!

All taken with the OMD-EM1 and 12-60mm +/- ND grad filter +/- polariser

No 3 for me, but they all make me want to be there!

Re: To the Lighthouse

They are all good but that tweaked version is outstanding.
That lighthouse looks very much like one that was for sale recently. It looked like a fantastic place to live.

Re: To the Lighthouse

Nice set David and it's nice to see harebells are still flourishing in some parts of the country.

Thanks Phil. It was for sale 3 or 4 years ago - a friend/ex colleague of mine bought it.

Thanks Paul. What are known as harebells south of the border are called bluebells in Scotland. And your bluebells are called wild hyacinths here. (Actually it's only a few of us pedants who call them that - most people here call them harebells and bluebells too. )
