Following snaarman & StephenL

This is what our butler saw

Old bell ringing system for the servants in our backstairs hallway

There are 14 in total covering all rooms including bathrooms (I suppose to ring for more hot water) they all still work which is not good when the grand kids visit

Cheers Iain

Lovely! We've got all the bells from the old system - it was replaced by new-fangled electrics - but no wires. They're just all tucked into a cupboard, waiting to be polished.

Lovely stuff Iain. You folks in Scotland certainly live in some grand establishments. The best I could manage is a shot of my B&Q digital door chimes, which wouldn't have the same impact.

Ron I suspect the B&Q ones are easier to maintain.Stephen has left me feeling bereft of artefacts. I must check the outbuildings tonight and see if we have any old Viking ships hidden away
