Dead insect inside my notepad screen!

It's a Thrip or Thunder Bug, and it's died right in the centre of my HP Notepad screen.

My son had this problem a few years back but his LG TV was under 2 years old and they replaced it under warranty.

My HP is 2 years old with a 1 year warranty. Would invasion of my LCD screen by an insect make it 'of unsatifactory quality' so I might use my statutory rights under the sale and supply of goods and services act I wonder? 6 years limit on that!

Re: Dead insect inside my notepad screen!

I don't think you'd win that one, David - they would just argue that it got into the laptop during the course of your ownership; not an unreasonable assumption.

You can remove it by splitting the screen into it's component parts as if you were going to replace the CCFL, although you do have to be patient and careful.....
