Wild About Britain site down again!

looks like the Wild About Britain site has gone down again:

"PDOException: SQLSTATE[08004] [1040] Too many connections in lock_may_be_available() (line 167 of /home/wildabou/public_html/includes/lock.inc)."

Anybody else with the problem?

Jim

Re: Wild About Britain site down again!

it seems like its down again, as i tried viewing it yesterday and today, but all i got was this message
"Error

The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later. Error message

PDOException: SQLSTATE[08004] [1040] Too many connections in lock_may_be_available() (line 167 of /home/wildabou/public_html/includes/lock.inc). "

the site has been a a state of dissaray for quite a long time now, and i'm wondering if this is really the end of WAB now,

not that its been much use to me of late, as most of the time it just wouldn't let me log in at all,

thankfully i found a couple of other sites to use, one of which i use a fair bit, its called wildlifebytes
i cant post a link to it as i'm a newbie here and i need to have 6 posts before i can add links apparently !
if anyone is interested in looking at it then a quick google for wildlifebytes should find it i imagine

Re: Wild About Britain site down again!

Is that the original Wild About Britain site?

If so, it is very dodgy, it has been hacked. There is a new one somewhere, it was mentioned on the WAB facebook group.

If not, I'll shut up

i dont think to two sites are connected in anyway,
the wabi one was set up as a temporary alternative (a.f.a.i.k) by some ex wabbers,
and i did join that one, but was put off by the fact that you had to use a flicker or photobucket (and we all know what happened to that one! ) photo hosting site to add your images,
with the wildlifebytes site, i can add my pics straight into my posts, plus into the gallery there too, apart from that, they are both a good alternative to wab, for my needs at least

Re: Wild About Britain site down again!

Yeah, but the word on the street is that the original WAB site is dangerous, admittedly from ex mods who may have an axe to grind. But I agree, it had excellent functionality. I now get the same functionality from various specialist FB groups. The botany and fungus one I use have resident, and very helpful, acknowledged experts.

Re: Wild About Britain site down again!

just thought i would remind everyone that the Wildlifebytes site is still active, and now with more boards and a new and better gallery for users,
and you can add your images directly into posts and gallery without using such as flicker etc

and unlike most other sites you dont get plagued with adverts etc, and no tracking of your visits unlike the highly dubious facebook !
its well worth a look, in my opinion anyhow i find it a nice friendly forum to use, and very helpful too,

Thanks for that, but it seems to be refusing connections at the moment.

Pages are desperately slow to load, if they will at all.

Maybe some other time.

Hi Harold,
it seems like the wildlifebytes.co.uk site was having some problems yesterday,
as there is a post from the admin on the forum, about it being slow,
but it seems to be working just fine for me this morning, as I have just visited the site and posted a few things without any problem,

sounds like you chose the wrong time to visit
