I think I'm going to like this lens!

Only just got my adapter this morning to fit my om 135 f2.8 onto my e500, for some reason its showing as a 50mm 2.8 in the image data.

Very pleasing bokeh, and good sharpness where it needs to be.

Does an OM lens even have the ability to tell a modern body which lens it is?
I don't think so, so your e-500 is making a wild guess ... I guess.

That lens has some lovely qualities, seems to be a good match for the E-500.

Hi there ashley!

If your lens adapter is the sort that has a chip on it they are normally programmed as 50mm from the factory - there is a procedure for changing it which with mine came on a little piece of paper which I promptly lost. It shouldn't make any difference for you but it can if you have a stabilised body (eg E-510) as I think it overides the manual settings. Enjoy your new lens and keep posting your images,

Cheers,

Ralph.

Arrr that's interesting, Im used to nikon and you can input the lens parameters in the menu of the camera, given the focal length of this little cutey I may have to get the 510 for the stabiliser, I'll post some more pics up soon ;-)

Hi there Ashley!

You can enter the focal length on a stabilsed Oly camera, but the lens will override that as far as I know - the entered value only works when the camera has no other information to work from. My other adapter comes with a lens length of 65535mm which also confuses the camera (even more so when it is used with a teleconverter as it tries to multiply it by 1.4 and runs out of numbers!)

If you are going to get a stabilised body it would be well worth getting a seperate lensadapter for each lens and setting them up correctly, or using an adapter without a chip and then you can set whatever length you want (but then you loose the focus "beep" and have to judge by eye or use the LiveView magnify function)

Enjoy the camera and the fab lens,

Cheers,

Ralph.

Re: I think I'm going to like this lens!

That's great, thank's for all your comment's, my adapter is the focus confirm type which I prefer, having the correct focal length in the data is not really an issue, I will have to see how I go with the e500, the iso goes to 1600 and its more grain than noise which I kind of like, in some situations it may not give me enough speed for the focal length of the lens, but then this was only a little camera and lens to play around with. You never no a bargain 510 might crop up on ebay, thanks again Ash.

Re: I think I'm going to like this lens!

I bought a S/H OM 135mm f3.5 last year. Haven't really tried it much yet, but I am encouraged to do so now. I just love the aesthetics and feel of OM lenses compared to modern stuff.
