Agree with you ED. Would have been good to meet you Tram.

Also agree with you regarding food. I have long since brought a packed lunch to such places even if it is a bit of a faff.

Now to unpack my new studio flashes to check all is well before going down to the boat to do a few hours. It's booked in for launching in 6 weeks and I still have a lot to do.

A grumpies work is never done.

Re: Photography Show 2019 - Can we manage to meet up this year

I certainly echo what John just said Tram and as most likely one of the members you spotted I certainly wouldn't have felt uncomfortable and I suspect neither would any of the others. You will be most welcome any time.
Dave can't believe I missed you at the stand as I was there for ages. Maybe we need bigger badges next time Dr Mark, I did see you though watching a talk but by the time I'd got round the crowd to say hello you'd disappeared. Maybe you'd spotted me too it was good to chat on Saturday though and Tesni's talk was very entertaining.
It was great to catch up with everyone, and meet new forum members, what a friendly and knowledgeable lot. And Hec you really do need to change your nickname your grumpiness is definitely slipping
Due to being a bit preoccupied with my panny lens issues I was gutted to have missed the podcast though Ian... nah only joking looking forward to hear what you all got up to when you broadcast it Ian.
In the end after the lens saga Ed referred to (I might post that up as a warning later) I didn't buy much only a light pollution filter on a bit of a whim. We'll see if it does what it says on the tin!
I've taken the hint Cindy so will look to sort out a meet in Derbyshire for the Autumn. Hope everyone got home safely.

Phil do post it up as something for others to check before purchase.

Hec had taken his be good medication which started to wear off near the end of the meet up, he even spent money!

Re: Photography Show 2019 - Can we manage to meet up this year

Nice to meet you all. I join in with other posts on the topic and welcome all forum members to come and meet each other - we are not an intimidating bunch of people whatever our views and if I recall the only topic of discussion was Olympus and the show in general anyway. Can't belive you missed us all Dave - we stood out like sore thumbs standing by the Oly stand. By the time I had walked from the car park park and sorted myself out it was 10:30 and the queue for camera cleaning was closed but mine didn't need anything doing anywhere.

I think the podcast recording went very well; thank you Ian (and Mark from Olympus).

I didn't buy anything in spite of looking long and hard for a small bag (the one I have which fits into my backpack is tough but not padded), inserts for my very old Billingham (spoke to a Billingham rep and she said go onto the website), and a tripod (I need something sturdy, light, and not too expensive - why do 99% of tripods come with a ball head these days rather than pan and tilt?). I didn't even buy any food as I had a packed lunch. Oh, and I couldn't see a Laowa 7.5mm rectilinear on display anyway.

I fondled the E-M1X but didn't like it, had a play with the E-M1ii and didn't like that, and handled the E-M5ii (nice) but waiting for the iii. I tried the 12-100 F/4 and its nice as most of you know. I tried two samples of the 12-200mm F/3.5-6.3 - nice but the zoom on one was very stiff and it kept jerking. I'm undecided whether to go for the quality or the reach and whichever one I get what do I do with my 12-40 F/2.8 and 40-150 F/2.8. The latter will become really useful once the MC-20 x2 is out.

Is the MC-20 likely to work with the 12-40 or the 12-100 for that matter. If if does then I'm really glad I had problems with my 100-400 purchase

No chance IMHO, Phil. I believe I heard someone from Olympus (?Mark Thakera) say it would only work with the 150-400, 300 and 40-150 Pros.

For me the latter would be my main use case: especially when I'd got 2 x M1ii bodies (e.g. on game drives) I'd have the MC-20 on the 40-150 and the MC-14 on the 300, then remove both converters when the light was dimmer at the start and end of the day. I'd have the 12-100 to hand in case of anything nearby.

I was going to ask you about that - what happened in the end?

It's actually catastrophic as my supply of anti-grump pills has run out due to my overdose yesterday.

What is a grumpy old git supposed to do

Re: Photography Show 2019 - Can we manage to meet up this year

I have subscribed to the colourless, odourless substance you refer to for many years and find it most efficacious.

My preference is to self administer in a modified form with two varieties taking my fancy in particular although not exclusively.

Firstly there is a lovely brown coloured liquid produced in a large building just up the coast from us in Southwold. I believe it's called a brewery.

Secondly there is tawny coloured form which comes from a small selection of buildings dotted around Ireland. I believe those buildings are known as distilleries.

In both cases I find the results most pleasing and beneficial to general health and wellbeing.

Hec

Ireland! Not Scotland?...I prefer the Scottish variety given the choice.
