Poppies

Yesterday I went to the South Bank with a photographer friend to take some shots in one of our favourite spots. Whilst there we took the opportunity to visit the Tower of London and see the poppies. We arrived just after 8, when it wasn't too busy, by 9.30 it was heaving, so I turned my attention to the crowds, always good photographic subjects.

Re: Poppies

My goodness, the crowd must have numbered nearly as many as the poppies!

Re: Poppies

Certainly felt that way but unfortunately there are a lot more poppies!! Just for interest the two showing the crowds were taken from the other side of the Thames using the 75-300!

Yes, seeing those poppies must be quite a shock, really emphasising the sheer scale of the tragic losses.

Re: Poppies

I really like all those shots. I'm hoping to visit the poppies tomorrow. Here's hoping the crowds are fewer!

Re: Poppies

Personally I like one and four. Number four captures a lady deep in thought. Always good when a picture such as this causes the viewer to imagine what's going on.

Re: Poppies

Thank you Bill. If you lived in UK there would probably be a way of getting you there, however one of the joys of photography and the internet is that they bring things which we would not normally be able to see or visit right onto our homes.

Re: Poppies

Stunning photos Shirley,

Been seeing these since they started the tribute when I have down in London and hope to view again on Wednesday.

Your shots on here are in my eyes the best I have seen anywhere.

Thanks for posting

Ian

Re: Poppies

The second one is THE picture.

Went to London during August - it was quite busy with only about 1/3rd of the poppies in place. Looks a lot busier now.
