B+W performance

6-7 weeks in to ownership, clearly still learning but loving the camera. Impressed with monochrome options and have been playing with these recently, including the `art` settings. These taken at a Timeline Events shoot at the GWR Steam museum in Swindon on Thursday night. Big shout out for TLE - very well run shoots.

Re: B+W performance

Looking good, you're first in the sequence portraying life for a working steam driver/fireman.
Have you explored RAW processing? For monochrome I would recommend Lightroom plus Silver Efex (part of the Nik collection, now free from Google).

Re: B+W performance

Very authentic and nostalgic looking images. They do look a little soft though, what settings did you use?

I think the steam creates an impression of softness, very atmospheric.

Its the 12-40 PRO at F2.8 but it must be pointed out that there was a lot of artificial `smoke`.

Re: B+W performance

Your probably right about the artificial smoke causing the softness but it adds to the ambiance. Nice images!
