Re: Driftwood on a Rock

I really like the shape that occurs with the driftwood and its shadow. I might crop a little from the top to emphasise the shape as it is quite interesting, and you don't really need the waves. But this is the Photo Fair and not the critique section,

I really like it. I also like to carry the XZ-1 (or now the XZ-2) for catching moments like this. Well spotted.

As you say, not the critique section but Alf won't mind at all, I'm sure.

I agree that cropping the waves strengthens the shapes. Just enough sea will remain at top left corner to keep the context.

Re: Driftwood on a Rock

I would keep the original angle but crop even tighter, to completely lose the stream. That was great light and the shadow is really effective.

I agree with John, beware of triangles in corners ;-)

Re: Driftwood on a Rock

Actually, sorry, I had another look.

On second though, I think you should keep what there is to the left, but come down even a bit more from the top. The triangle that occurs from the wet rock in the upper left corner isn't obvious enough to be disturbing - at least not to my eye.

Re: Driftwood on a Rock

At this angle, and with the shadow, this really works well, Simple but very effective, tha crop works well. Thinking that the sea left in the top gives it context.
