140 pictures of one building…

…all stitched together gives this:

A 1 Gigapixel picture of the former town hall of Hoorn, built in 1613.

Click the picture to switch to the interactive version, where you can zoom in to all the details of this magnificent building.

Have fun,

Karel

Very impressive, Karel, spades of detail. What sort of shop is "Sissy-Boy Homeland?"

Thanks John,

Sissy Boy is a trendy clothes shop and 'Homeland' is their furniture extension.

Out of interest, Karel, how long does it take you to stitch an an image like that? It must require a great deal of skill and patience.

Re: 140 pictures of one building…

This relatively small one takes a few hours to stitch. I don't know the exact time, as I started the render on monday evening and tuesday morning it was ready.

The output is a 6 GB psb file (Photoshop large) as you cannot use normal file types due to the size.
Opening this file in Photoshop alone takes about 20 minutes....

I am currently trying a 5 GigaPixel panorama, but after last nights' 7 hours rendering it had only done 12% and souped up about 55 GB of temporary disk space (and 6GB of swap memory besides my normal 4GB RAM)

So, patience is the word here....
