June critters and a rose ...

... or three beauties and a beast!

After days of rain, it stopped. Not that we had a good day - it was cloudy, cold and extremely windy, more like November than June, but the fact that it wasn't raining got us out of the house in search of butterflies. It was an unrealistic ambition really but I did manage one butterfly, one moth and a dung fly, together with a rose - hence three beauties and a beast, although I'm sure he is a very nice dung fly!

1. The butterfly - a Common Blue -

2. The moth - a Burnet Companion. I think it imagines it is hidden behind that blade of grass. Wrong, if you can see me, then I can see you! -

3. The Dung Fly (with companion) -

and finally, another beauty,

4. A Dog Rose -

All taken with the E-3 - the butterfly and dog rose with the 70-300mm and the moth and dung fly with the 50mm lens.

Regards,
Ann1e

As usual another charming set from you Annie. The Common Blue is not so common here.

Re: June critters and a rose ...

I think you've done well to get these given the awful weather we've been having recently. Love the flutterby.

Re: June critters and a rose ...

Martyn, Mark, Huw, David, Stephen, Chevvy, Cindy, Ed, John and bilbo -

Many thanks for looking in and commenting. I think the Common Blue probably got the vote but it's amazing what can be achieved by a dung fly if it chooses to be photographed on a pretty flower rather than in what is presumably its natural habitat!

Regards,
Ann1e
