Kingfisher feeling the November warmth!

We have just had a wonderful weekend weather wise - the last day of October and the first of November - both days with unbroken blue skies - we were so fortunate as other parts of the south east, including Kent, where our son and family live, were shrouded in fog for much of the time.

We enjoyed two days' walking, enjoying the sun and this beautiful lady was doing the same - enjoying the sun that is, not walking!

Taken with the OM-D, E-M10, 40-150mm 1:2.8 Pro lens.

Regards,
Ann1e

Re: Kingfisher feeling the November warmth!

Cracking shot with lovely light: I can hear the camera club judge saying the background's distracting and he'd have cropped it from the right as well, but actually I like it as it is.

Original use of negative space which reveals the bird in its natural environment.

Almost like a 17th century still life painting.

Re: Kingfisher feeling the November warmth!

Many thanks, Beagletorque, Barrie, Ed, Mark and Paul for your comments and others for your 'likes'!

Thanks also - Ed and Mark - for your thoughts on the crop. I have to agree that the pic is a bit on the busy side but I did experiment with a tighter crop and decided, rightly or wrongly, that the bird was almost too overpowering. It is always helpful to have the views of others on these matters and I appreciate your input.

Regards,
Ann1e

Re: Kingfisher feeling the November warmth!

Nicely captured image of a bird that's not that easy to catch.
Another vote for a crop - just to the right of the red berries
