Re: OM-D E-M5 Delivery Date - Oh Dear!

Thanks to both Brian and Bredman - I'd just found a way to change the focus point, but not in the same way. When on touch to focus only, touch the screen, then press the Info button, then use the front dial to adjust the size.....

P.S. Cancel the thanks to Brian - Mods, please remove my thanks to Brian.

I will believe you, Brian, honestly! Are we sitting at opposite sides of the globe trying to get the same camera to do something that it should do by default?

I'll pretend I never read that answer......

Where is Ian when you need him? Surely he doesn't expect a private life when he's got a forum to run?

Re: OM-D E-M5 Delivery Date - Oh Dear!

I haven't tried it yet as I'm out just now, but from someone over at mu-43.....

In the 'wrench' menu, set Rec View to 'Auto {play symbol}' - when you take a shot with the EVF, wait for it to display in the EVF, then move your eye away and it should then switch to the LCD automatically. You do have to wait for the review image to show in the EVF, though - if you take your eye away from the EVF too soon, the review image never shows on the LCD.

Re: OM-D E-M5 Delivery Date - Oh Dear!

Does the job Derek, thanks for finding that.
If you keep your eye to the EVF for a split second you'll notice the monitor lights up below with the preview image. It'll stay like that until you delete it or half press the shutter.

Thanks for this. However, you have to do this each time you power the camera, and on mine anyway it doesn't change the focus point size in the EVF.

Re: OM-D E-M5 Delivery Date - Oh Dear!

Well, SRS took the money Thursday evening:

Monday lunchtime, still no camera. No shipment notification. My order status on their website only relates to the 20 deposit, there's no sign of the camera order.

Their phone is engaged. This is the last day of the month, and I would rather like to get it registered. The whole point was to get the grip for free...

Still the Dpreview review was in general surprisingly positive...

Pete

EDIT. Aha. I got though to SRS finally and got a tracking number out of them. It's between Oxford and here.
They still have an extensive pre-order list of E-M5s to work through. No signs of batteries, they are still on their way.

I just powered mine up to check and i find it is still fixed on "14" (the smallest) where i left it. Also the green focus point square does change size in the EVF, but it's isn't possible to alter it except on the OLED.

You might have paid 20 deposit, but I paid in full (last Friday) & I'm approx. #16 on the preorder list from this one store (in Sydney), plus I've been told by Oly Australia that more stock will come in about 2-3 weeks time. Our free MMF-3 is on offer till the end of May, so now I appreciate what a lot of you have gone through as you waited for your orders to be fulfilled.

Re: OM-D E-M5 Delivery Date - Oh Dear!

Still no sign of getting mine (17th February pre-order). I've tried a few times to get hold of them but seemingly always engaged.

I'm finding it difficult to understand how later orders are getting handled and mine hasn't.

Re: OM-D E-M5 Delivery Date - Oh Dear!

Had this email from Amazon this morning:
We are pleased to report that the following item will dispatch sooner than expected:

"Olympus OM-D EM-5 Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Camera - Black (16.1MP, Live MOS, M.Zuiko 12-50mm Lens) 3.0 inch OLED"
Previous estimated arrival date: June 09 2012 - July 11 2012
New estimated arrival date: May 08 2012
So I might get it up to 2 months earlier than I originally thought. Which is a bit of a shock because I wasn't expecting to have to pay for it for another month or two. Oh well...
