OM-3Ti body

Hi, I hope this doesn't cause offence being a 35mm camera but it may possibly be of interest to an Olympus digital user whose interest started with 35mm cameras.

Anyway I am selling my OM-3Ti. It is pretty much perfect apart from very small loss of paint on the film memo holder on the back, a 3mm scratch, that doesn't go through the paint, on the base and marks on the battery cap from replacing the batteries.

I don't have the box or strap but do have the original instructions which are pristine and the clear base protector.

The camera has hardly been used and has no edge wear or brassing to the lovely "OM-3Ti only" distinctive gunmetal paintwork which seems more resilient than that on the OM-4ti models.

For those occasions I want to use 35mm I will use my OM2n and OM-4Ti.

The camera is also on Eb*y at 1595 or best offer. I realise this may seem high enough for me to receive death threats and the like but an OM-3Ti described as "very clean" with quite noticeably more wear sold for $2350 (approx 1439 depending on the exchange rate) recently and all other boxed examples are generally up for 2100 or above.

Apologies if this item is completely inappropriate for this forum but I thought there may possibly be some interest.

I can forward pics if anyone supplies their email address or you can view it by arrangement at my house in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.

Thank you.

Nah!
There are film nutters here too
Doubt there are any rich ones though
That's a lovely machine and am drooling (but not mad).
I used to have access to one of those when they first came out.

Well you had one film nutter getting quite interested for a moment, until I got to the price. I use a somewhat beat OM3 now, but I can't quite afford this upgrade. Best of luck though!

Re: OM-3Ti body

Hi, I know it seems like a lot of money and in truth I have probably only put it up for sale after seeing what the other one sold for...

That's the trouble with a lot of this gear now - it becomes too valuable to use!

Re: OM-3Ti body

A few years ago I'd have been interested as the OM3/3Ti were the only single digit models I haven't owned.

But I'm not a collector and with 6 OM bodies and 12 primes gathering dust I don't really need it.

Re: OM-3Ti body

I have one of these and use it occasionally, but I could never bear to part with it. It is a truly beautiful bit of engineering that (in my opinion) became the OM System's swansong.

I heard there were just 4,000 made - not sure if this is true or not.

Yes all my research pointed to that being the case.

Sad day but it felt too good to be used (pretty ironic as that is what a camera is for...) but I still have my OM-4Ti and OM2n which will never be sold...

Re: OM-3Ti body

Well done on the sale, Malc, a very impressive price i.e. much more than I got for mine.

I think I have had the pleasure (not!) of bidding against you on choice OM equipment several times in the past.

I seem to remember hearing they were all hand built rather than being built on a production line but I don't know if it was true.

Re: OM-3Ti body

I am very interested to see this. I have an OM4Ti (Black) that I bought new in 1998 or thereabouts, which is well used but still in excellent order. I also have a brand new, never used, boxed OM4Ti that I bought about three years ago for a mutually agreed 'reasonable' price that was just under half of what I paid for No 1.

I am tempted to get it out and use it, but I have my first OM4Ti plus a very nice OM2SP, so I would rather not risk scratching it.

I distinctly remember buying No 1 from Jessops in London, where I had made a special trip. I was half way through the purchase when a very rude man walked in brandishing an EOS of some description, and demanded to be served straightaway as he had "parked the Beemer on a yellow line". He was asked to wait, and clearly wasn't happy about it.

Having paid the 1,200 or so that the OM body cost in those days (including a few free rolls of Kodachrome 64), I turned to leave, when the arrogant pratt suggested that next time I should "save up to buy a camera with autofocus".

I have to say that that experience did nothing to improve my opinion of BMW or Canon owners.

Nothing much changes does it?
