Re: Climate Change

I expected adolescents (anyone under 30) and Americans misunderstanding this cutting, but surely us grown ups realised is was irony.

One would hope so, although having any sense of humour nowadays seems to be frowned upon by the liberal elite. Or maybe they all have some form of Aspergers?

This helps put the whole carbon emission story in perspective.

So basically we have reduced our emissions by exporting them to China and India.

A bit like electric cars really.

Think that just about sums it up in one sentence

Someone posted electric cars simply move the exhaust outlet overseas, it doesn't fix the problem - so true as the data shows.
Also, Extinction Rebellion seem unwilling to protest in China, can't think why?

Re: Climate Change

How about Bristol council making an outright diesel ban in the city center -

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-50292596

Just how unknowledgeable are they .... Have they never heard of E6 diesel engines which produce not only less NO2 than many petrol engine cars but a heck of a lot less CO2 than petrol cars.

Just another case of people who haven't got a clue telling the rest of us what to do.

Sums up the virtue signalling Labour council in Bristol. Next, they will increase the city centre car park charges and the council tax on retail premises. Then wonder why no one goes there anymore.

That's what Labour councils do best, especially safe seat ones like ours.

The old town-centre shops are then replicated by new out of town retail parks where there is usually no public transport at all.

Those in charge seem to forget that there are some people who cannot drive or do not have cars.

The Marks And Spencers in our town closed down and relocated to an out of town retail park which is off the bus route. The shop was busy as can be at lunch times as workers shopped for food etc. now only people with access to vehicular transport can get to it. The rents must be so much lower that they can afford to lose that business. Meanwhile the town takes another hit with another big shop empty.

I doubt they’ll have forgotten, just simply done the maths and figured that the loss will be outweighed by the gains. Our local town centre is dying, more and more shops closed and M&S are going in the new year. Too high business rates drives away many independents leaving the chains. Quite how M&S are failing yet WH Smith’s can keep going is beyond me.
