Hidden Paddington

Despite visiting London many times over the years, I never knew until Saturday way lay outside the platform 8 entrance/exit. So, while the other half enjoyed herself at a questionable Strictly-spin off musical, it was me and the Pen F walking the Paddington basin/Little Venice area. Well worth an afternoons visit.

Re: Hidden Paddington

A great location in the heart of London that is still relatively unknown. Does the barge moored near the blue bridge (No 2) still do teas?

Re: Hidden Paddington

Great photos - thankfully I no longer have to commute there!

2 hours door to door from Cambridge.

Re: Hidden Paddington

I'm sure I stood on that bridge in the second picture during a visit to London in 1990. I took a photo of a colourful coat of arms plaque affixed to the railings if memory serves.

There is indeed a plaque as you describe. Well remembered!

Re: Hidden Paddington

Nice to see a different side of London. TFS

(Must admit, on first looking at the title 'Hidden Paddington' I half expected to see a 'Where's Wally' sort of picture with a bear in it somewhere for us to find)

There is a fairly horrible Paddington Bear statue not many yards from the station exit. It is a horrible blue colour!

Re: Hidden Paddington

Thank you. You have just given me another place to visit next year when I am in UK.

At first I thought it was the hidden Paddington Bear at Paddington Train station. Which I did find after a bit of asking.
