Good on you Ed. The asking price is insane. So much for being a little more than the EM1 at launch. That camera is still a little gem and I still have loads of features to fully explore. It seems that most people on the various Facebook Oly groups think the price is insane too. Here too I guess.

I'm really quite surprised they went in so high with the price - hopefully their commercial and marketing teams have got it right !!
Don't think they will sell many to Mk 1 owners at the launch price!

Re: EM-1 MARK II review

I am most certainly now going to await the reviews from independent and Olympus-associated sports, wildlife & birding experts before committing.

The image quality improvements were never going to sway it for me however large they turn out to be in reality, but the CA focus performance may do so. I'm unlikely to be doing much/any relevant shooting until next Spring at the earliest so I'm hanging on for now.

Just been using the mk1 for some autumn colour shooting in the garden - what a comfortable and enjoyable camera it is!

Re: EM-1 MARK II review

Given my present stock of lenses, I'd only be buying the Mark II body... but when the Mark I body is now selling for £699, the Mark II will have to be exceedingly good to justify its £1850 price tag!

I've just installed the OV3 update and processing of my RAW files from my E-M10 MKi is significantly faster!
I'm running an NVidiia Geforce GT620 (apparently) so nothing flash,
It only has 1GB of dedicated video RAM and 4GB of shared system memory.
Curves adjustments etc. aren't super charged but they are notably quicker!

This has probably hastened my purchase of a second-hand A7Rii, as a matter of fact, depending on whether I see myself wanting to develop more in action or landscape photography: currently unsure, but the A7 series have rocketed up in new price as well in the last weeks.

Wait till the A9 is launched! The A7rii I dabbled with earlier this year was a special offer at the Photography Show in March. £1850 - new, UK stock from LCE. I wish I'd kept it now! Actually no - I can still recall the weight and cost of the lenses!

IMO the Mk1 is still a VERY capable camera and there are some very good deals available right now. For just £150.00 more than the Mk2 'body only' price you can buy at SRS ( most likely other dealers too ) a brand new Mk1 + 12-40 Pro + 40-150 Pro , that's a 'sobering thought' to say the least and very compelling too

Re: EM-1 MARK II review

Not only is the alleged price way to high for a model that should have replaced the E5 in CAF performance. You may well have to factor in another Lightroom upgrade if you use the standalone version if you want to process ORF images.

Re: EM-1 MARK II review

Landscapes do not need C-AF or tracking and I not convinced it works on macro.
Though hi res and more DR and better noise performance would help.
That price did not go down well at home.

I will see what the EM5III BRINGS.

Re: EM-1 MARK II review

The overwhelming response globally to the price is that it's too high. On IG Olympus Aus responded to everyone by saying go try it and I'm sure you'll buy. No, I won't - I paid £450 for my em1 18 months ago and the reviews I'm seeing are a bit variable with c-af missing some focus on people walking, not much noticeable ISO or DR performance improvement

Don't get me wrong, the spec of the camera is great - I don't shoot video so don't care about 4K. FPS is overkill for me as I don't see myself ever needing it, even in drag racing. Improved ibis may be down to new 12-100 coupled with the body but tricky to tell as that seems to be the main lens being used with the mk2.

Will continue reading the reviews
