Saving Raw files
I have puzzled for some time why is, it that when I save raw files from an E3 and wish to print them they alway come out at 240ppi instead of 300ppi using Pshop Elements 7. is it a setting in the camera that somehow I am missing. :-(

Re: Saving Raw files
I think the default setting in most Adobe products is 240ppi. You can change that in "preferences".

Thanks Stephen, I couldn't figure out just what it was.

Yorky the reason 240ppi is standard in adobe is because this is considered the optimum setting for home inkjet printing . PPI has no relevance untill ouputing for printing and it can easily be changed using the image size dialogue box, just make sure the resample box is unticked when you do it. ![]()

Re: Saving Raw files
Ah - in my copy of Elements (8) you can set this under Edit/Preferences/Units & Rulers.

To clarify in CS3 you can choose to convert a raw image at 240ppi or 300ppi, in Elements the only choice is 240ppi. When importing a jpeg from the camera the ppi is fixed at Olympus's standard 314ppi in both CS3 or Elements and the only way to change it is as I stated before in the image size dialogue box.

Re: Saving Raw files
No I'm not sure! I've never imported a Jpeg into either PS, LR or Elephants. In fact, I haven't really used Elements a lot - I only bought it because a) I got it cheap (£28 full copy) and b) I wanted to see if it was as good as PC CS4 (in my mind it's not as intuitive and is more resource-hungry). So you are probably correct.

Re: Saving Raw files
You can change the resolution (pixels/inch or ppi) by using the Image Size dialogue (Image > Resize > Image Size...) but ensure that the resample option is un-ticked.
I think Paul said this in his message, but I thought I'd restate it as he was talking about printing ![]() In PS CS4 there is one less menu, so it's Image > Image Size... Ian
