Olympus Workspace vs Lightroom...

Mucking about with raw conversion to black and white, tonight. Here’s a couple of conversions.

In the black corner, we have Olympus Workspace.

In the white corner, we have Lightroom.

Points to note:

• Same text presets were used in Photoshop.
• So I put the differences down to a bug in Photoshop.
• Impossible to get exactly equivalent output.
• Because i) the way they do the black and white (red filter) Conversion is different.
• And ii) Olympus Workspace highlight and shadows controls word different to blacks and whites.
• I don’t see any kind of levels equivalent in Workspace.

Conclusions:

• Lightroom is technically better, producing a cleaner and more detailed image.
• But Workspace is very credible for less demanding use.
• Clarity and USM (used in both photos) are a nice addition to Workspace.
