Surely...

Surely the Sky News sound recordist would have noticed that G Brown was wandering off with his valuable radiomic still attached. Surely he would have noticed he had left his audio recorder running...

Er.. You don't think that maybe they deliberately let this happen in the hope of striking gold

Re: Surely...

I reckon the big question in the Brown camp will be, "Which aid did not spot the mike?"

Re: Surely...

It was like something from “Drop the Dead Donkey” – as were the apologies!

It just shows what happens when our Dear Leader encounters somebody who is not a Labour Apparatchik

Is it just me, or would Question Time benefit from the appearance of the Tiswas Phantom Flan Flinger when questions requiring a simple YES or NO answer are answered with irrelevant diatribes?

Re: Surely...

Radio mikes are almost an endangered species - I have heard of them being accidentally left attached to the subject and taken away and never seen again, of them dropping into lavatory pans etc. The incident was a normal z-list celebrity incident.

But I thought she was a Labour supporter?

Re: Surely...

Yes, she was a Labour supporter – but not an apparatchik. She questioned the policies of her party, thereby failing to tow Gordon Brown’s party line.

Quoting from today’s online Scotsman newspaper (http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/news...own.6260788.jp)

“While Mr Brown apologised and later described himself as "a penitent sinner", many in the party knew that the game was up. One leading Scottish Labour figure bluntly told The Scotsman: "We're f****d".”

I wonder how, or if, Mandelson, can spin his way out of this one?

Re: Surely...

Well we've all made the occaisional ill-considered comment when we thought we were in private, even about people we know and respect.

Given Mr Browns reputation for mild manners and genial jovial affability one can surely forgive him.

After all he did not, in the normal manner of labour politicians, lay her out with a punch.

(with regard to Pete's original concern, I suspect SKY regard it as a good return for the cost of one radio microphone, I'd be more worried if it was the BBC losing one I'd paid for).

Talking Re: Surely...

I'm not convinced they're stuffed.
It does show he is human after all.
Not sure if Mandelson is.

I have successfully managed to vote every time, since I could, for someone who didn't get in.

Remember the old rule, vote early, vote often.

Re: Surely...

Apologies, all this reading of “Private Eye” is doing me no good at all.

Apparatchik seemed like the best word to describe the fawning orchestrated hordes that appear at political interviews.

You are lucky its only big words – I have problems with small words, unnecessary road works and six figure salaries for officials who could get themselves not dressed without using Velcro

Sorry Shirley - I'll put your name at the top of what would be a very long list of volunteer Flan Flingers
