I can certainly look into that

Keep the suggestions coming!

Re: The reality is that the e-group needs your help

I've not contributed to the site for ages for my own reasons but I always look in.

Just tried to donate but got "something went wrong" at the end. Will try later.

This is a really useful resource.

Re: The reality is that the e-group needs your help

PayPal seem to have messed up their service a bit. I'm unable to send a donation using the link on the home page here because it won't let me change the amount from zero! This has happened on another forum too. I also tried to send direct from my PayPal account to the e-group e-mail address and encountered a similar problem, although I was eventually able to get around that. However, when I tried to change the entry from "payment for an item" to "friends and family" it sent it anyway without giving me the option to choose or even to confirm.

I'm using the latest version of Firefox on Windows 10 Professional so goodness knows what they've done!

It's a business account so I am not sure that Friends and Family is possible, so yes, there is a small fee that the company has to pay.

Your donation has been received - many thanks Otto

Sorry about that Andy - if it still doesn't work please PM me the error message and I will contact PayPal for advice. ***We have had several donations successfully made today***. (correction - no donations today; so maybe something is up after all)

Re: The reality is that the e-group needs your help

I realise there will be a natural drop-off in activity but in the light of Andy having problems with PayPal and no donations at all in the last 36 hours, I am wondering if anyone else has tried to donate unsuccessfully?

Re: The reality is that the e-group needs your help

I have just tried and, as others have said, it won't let me change the value from £0.00.

Is this via the button on the front page or by using the email address paypal (at) e-group.uk.net?

Re: The reality is that the e-group needs your help

Sorry Ian, that was from the button on front page. I haven't tried the other option.

Re: The reality is that the e-group needs your help

I have just discovered that PayPal has just introduced a tighter encryption requirement for web browsers. If you are using an old, unusual or other browser that has not been updated recently you may encounter problems.

If you are not sure - let me know and I will help you to establish if this could be the problem.

You can test your browser for conformity via the information on this PayPal help page:

Or go direct to the test page here:

Re: The reality is that the e-group needs your help

I'm using the most up to date version of Firefox which the link tells is OK.

I tried using Chrome but it was still the same. I just get a message saying "opps something went wrong" and to try again

You just can't give your money away even when you want to.

Re: The reality is that the e-group needs your help

OK - I can confirm that a donation has just been received successfully, so possibly the problem has been resolved. I would be most grateful if anyone who has been trying give it another go. If there are still problems I will try and get assistance from PayPal directly.

Thanks,

Ian
